Van Niekerk emerged as top local junior golfer at AJGA Ravenwood Junior Championship

VICTOR, N.Y. – Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Ravenwood Junior Championship is a 54-hole stroke play competition played on the par-72, Ravenwood Golf Club. The event featured 108 boys and 36 girls, ages 12-18, from 19 states and 5 countries. The Boys Division played the course at 6,976 yards while the Girls Division played  the course at 6,123 yards.

After a strong start on Tuesday, Jul 3rd, Matthew van Niekerk was positioned 2nd in the field with an opening score of 1-under par, 71.

His putting let him down on day 2 with at least 9 putts under 10ft not finding the cup. After facing warm and windy conditions on day 3, he finished strong and emerged as top local  golfer, placed overall 16th with a score of 71-78-75–224.
